As a tour guide of both Art Deco and midcentury architecture (in the case of Miami, it's called MiMo--Miami Modern), I thought many of you art, design and architecture aficionados would appreciate this 1950's gem.
Yes it's the house featured in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The most memorable feature was the garage that showcased two collectible, luxury automobiles. Remember the red Ferrari crashing through the glass? Probably the most painful scene in the entire movie. Painful as in "I can only imagine his parent's volcanic anger and his equally painful punishment to fit the crime".
Two steel-and-glass buildings make up this peaceful palace with the garage celebrating the automobile by showcasing the cars within. Architects A. James Speyer and David Haid built the structures on steel beams, creating a Jetson-like pod above the ground. The home also has stunning panoramic views, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls spanning 5,300 square feet.

Despite the fact the house has been on the market since 2009, the listed realtor is confident the "architectural significance" and culural cache will fetch the reduced sales price of $1.6 million.
This would ideally be my summer home. Not too far are some of Frank Lloyd's Wright famous architectural homes. One day I hope to see them.
